ANKARA UNIVERSITY MANAVGAT FACILITIES

Located at the seaside in Çolaklı region on the town of Manavgat, Antalya, Ankara University Manavgat (Çolaklı) Student Health, Culture and Sports Center provides Ankara University students with facilities for resting, training and research, application and sports. The Center features 115 rooms and serves full board, with three buffet meals. The Center is open from April to October. With the conference featuring a seating capacity of 125 persons, the Center is fit for meetings, congresses, seminars, symposiums and conferences. The Center is 510 kilometers from Ankara via Konya and 620 kilometers via Antalya.

LOCATION

Surrounded to the north by the Taurus Mountains, Manavgat is 68 kilometers away from Antalya and 40 kilometers from Serik. The sea line is covered with beautiful beaches. Vast, fertile plateaus together with ragged landscape are characteristic features inland.

 

CLIMATE

The Mediterranean climate reigns in Manavgat. The region is hot and dry in summer and warm and rainy in winter. Occasional frosts are witnessed. According to reports, extreme cold is rather rare in the region

 

HISTORY 

Although little is known about the initial years of the town of Manavgat, it is believed that the ancient cities of Side (Selimiye Köyü) and Selge (Altınkaya Köyü) in Manavgat were founded in the sixth century B.C. Manavgat was conquered by the Seljuks in 1220 and the Ottomans in 1472. It became a town in 1914, with the addition of newly-founded Taşağıl and Beşkonak districts.
